Popular choir master Gareth believes anything can happen through the power of song. He’s going to help a group of school children persuade the local community to buy tickets and support their Comic Relief event.

The pressure is on, they need help and they’ve got it in the shape of Gareth Malone.

First things first, they’ve got to learn how to sing. Gareth puts them through their paces in a series of music boot camp style lessons. Who will buckle under the pressure and who will come out singing like an angel?

Singing improvisation lessons help the group to understand the power of the spoken word. And after choosing a famous song, they then get to work on their own lyrics. Aiming for funny and engaging, will they hit the right note and be able to persuade their chosen targets?

To turn their tunes into all round performances, Gareth enlists the help of a choreographer. They’ve got the lyrics and now they’ve got the moves, it’s time for some try-outs and who better to start with than their family and friends at school? Can they convince them to come to the event?

Newly confident, their ad campaign can begin in earnest. Tailoring the lyrics to each location, they take to the streets, and where possible, contact the local newspaper, radio station and shopping mall to raise awareness and sell tickets. They might also target local businesses for sponsorship.

They sound the part, but do they look it? With their event looming, if possible, Gareth will call in an image consultant to give the group a pop star makeover.

So, have they done enough to convince the local town to attend their event? To kick off proceedings the school kids get ready to perform their big number on stage. We will get the pop stars themselves or another relevant celebrity guest to surprise the children on stage and sing with them. Will they raise the roof AND hit their target?
