BBC Three hit, The World’s Strictest Parents, produced by Twenty Twenty (a Shed Media company) has fended off competition at the Factual Entertainment Awards to take home the accolade for the Reality-Docuformat category. Open to entries worldwide, the awards were held on 1 June at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel in California, USA.
The World’s Strictest Parents famously witnesses two troublesome teens leave their fraught family homes to spend ten days living with and abiding by the rules of strict parents in far corners of the world. From Jaipur to Jamaica and Accra to Alabama, discontented Brits have been challenged with the daily discipline, educational values and moral principles of parents who believe that enforcing strict beliefs are the best ways to raise a well-balanced child.
The Factual Entertainment Awards recognise excellence in the genre across the world. Each year, the panel of expert judges receives hundreds of entries and has to whittle these down to just 12 winning programmes.
Executive Producer Sam Whittaker said: “World’s Strictest has been internationally popular since it’s inception, but to have it’s quality and integrity recognised by such an influential and well-respected judging panel at a US award ceremony is a genuine honour.”
